The super spy duo was now off to a landfill where another player kept a large stash beneath garbage piles. Logan was impressed. It was genius. If the Honduran police ever decided to bring drug-sniffing dogs, the overpowering stench of rotting garbage would cover up any lingering odors of cocaine or marijuana.

Logan waved at the man, who stood with a knowing look. Obviously, he’d been forewarned.

No words were exchanged, only cash for drugs. He paid $30,000 for his stash, with the promise of getting some of his money back when he delivered two kilos to Texas. It was a pretty ingenious system that protected ESR-32 from losing too much money if shipments went missing.

After they were at a safe distance from the landfill, Sydney called Senator Kirkpatrick.

“Hello, senator. We need to smuggle four kilograms of cocaine into Texas…”

Logan listened in on her side of the conversation, realizing how that opening statement could have set the tone. He could imagine the senator’s irate expression.

Sydney nodded, waving a hand in the air. “Yes, I’m aware we’re supposed to be fighting the drug smugglers…” She paused. “We think we’ve got a good line on one of the caudillos, but we have to prove ourselves as drug runners.” Sydney sent Logan a look, pulling a finger across her throat with an imaginary knife. “Yes, sir. Thank you.”

She hung up the phone, turning with a look of relief. “Okay, we’re good to go.”

In under an hour, Logan rented a car in Tegucigalpa to drive back for the F7F Tigercat parked in the mountains. The phone rang on route again, but this time, Logan picked up. “Pablo Escobar here.”

The senator’s voice filled the line. “I don’t like this, Mr. Connor.”

“Look at it this way. You now know the name and location of a cartel member operating inside the US. Just keep in mind that if you grab him before we’re done with this mission, they’ll know it was us, and we’ll die horrible deaths.”

The senator’s tone dropped. “I know all about ESR-32’s horrible deaths.”

“Right. Sorry. I shouldn’t joke. You’re a huge help, senator. What was your daughter’s name, sir?”

“Her name is Lily.” Kirkpatrick used the present tense, still unable to accept she was gone forever.

“I think I’ll name the Tigercat ... Lily, and Lily’s going to kill a helluva lot of ESR-32 goons.” Logan paused, waiting.

“Glad to hear it. That’s actually why I’m calling. We’ve got chatter that ESR-32 is moving a shipment on a cargo plane. I texted you the possible flight path. Can you track it to find where it lands?”

Logan groaned. “Booorring. We’ll just shoot it down.” Before Kirkpatrick could respond, Logan blurted, “Stay in touch. Buh-bye now.”

When he hung up the phone, he looked over to find Sydney glaring at him. “What exactly are we shooting down?”

“An ESR-32 plane.”

Sydney redirected her attention to the road. “Is that smart?”

Logan practically growled as he said, “Who cares about smart when they dismembered that girl, and they dangled those poor people from streetlamps? They put drugs in children’s stomachs! No, we’re not doing smart.
